Custom Commissions

Commissioning a Custom Painting:

Commissioning a custom painting is often the best way to get your hands on an original painting by DeYoung, and is a very easy process. Derek keeps a list of commissions, and depending on time of year is usually booked from one to six months out. To book your spot on Derek’s list call the studio and talk to him about your thoughts on your painting. Derek will fill out an order form for you, and take notes on all your ideas. If you’d like Derek to paint a specific fish you’ve caught, please email the photo to fishingartist@yahoo.com. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required, and can be payed by credit card over the phone, or you can send a check or money order to the studio. (This is non- refundable because once your deposit is made, Derek will begin ordering supplies to build your canvas, begin sketching, taking photos, or what ever is necessary for your project.)

Payment Plans:

If you’d like to set up a payment plan on your painting, we are happy to set it up for you.
How it works: Pay the $500 deposit on a credit credit card that you want to eventually pay for the entire balance on. We then take the balance and divide it by the number of months it will take to finish your painting. So if you purchase a $3000 painting, and the painting is due to be finished five months later, after the $500 deposit, we’d charge the credit card $500 per month for five months.

Buying an existing original painting:

If you are looking to buy an existing painting, check out the “available original painting” section of the website. It’s also a good idea to call the studio to check on available paintings, because Derek can point you in the direction of a retailer that carries his work that might have exactly what your looking for.
